MESSAGE FROM COZMO D ABOUT AD2005!!!
First of all, we would like to express our deepest thanks and appreciation to all of our fans and supporters who have given Newcleus new life. I can never express completely our gratitude for all that you've done for us. Because of you Newcleus exists again.
Secondly, I would like to personally thank, and at the same time offer my apologies and regrets, to all who have pre-ordered the AD2005 album. Thank you so much for your support and patience, it has truly touched my heart and soul. I promise to do my utmost to not only compensate you for the love you have shown us, but to return and reward it in the same exact spirit in which it was given.
When I first announced AD2005, my plan was to knock-off a quick remix album. I figured "remixes, eh, that won't take much of an effort" and estimated a February release. Thing is, I had almost forgotten what Newcleus meant to me. 20 years of music industry bullsh!t had buried my long dormant idea of who and what I was musically. However, the love you guys have shown us, and the retrospection you have inspired in me, has brought me back to where I once was. As a result, no matter how hard I tried, I just couldn't settle for any sort of Newcleus "knock-off" project. Now, 4 months late and 5 revisions later, it's time to for me to stop pretending and face reality. This is a NEW Newcleus album, and it will not be rushed.
Here is where we are. With apologies to my good friends Skelly and Speedy at Electro Utopia, the album is no longer named "AD2005". The new name is "Returned To Earth", after the brand new title track. This is no longer a remix or even a simple revision album, this is now a sequel album, with mostly new material and ideas. It picks up in theme where the last Positive Messenger project left off, while it picks up musically where the last completely original Newcleus track, "Teknology" left off. This means that the emphasis on this album is on the music, and the theme is for the most part dark and foreboding. Positive Messenger had something to say, and I spared none of that. All of the songs now have totally new lyrics except for "I'm An Automan (I'm Made Of Wires)", which now uses technology to tell it's story like it never could before. The other Positive Messenger/Newcleus songs represented, "Destination Earth (1999)", "Computer Age", "I'm Not A Robot", "Cyborg Dance" and "Teknology" are all totally rewritten, retitled and rearranged to reflect the world of today and foreshadow the world of tomorrow. The entire album is themed to depict our reemergence in today's world and man's continuing struggles with his existence. Most importantly, there is no fluff or filler, I am treating every track with the devotion and patience it deserves.
So, that brings us to the release date. Here's my promise... I will stop making promises. As of right now most of the album is either in the tweaking or vocal recording phase. I recently threw out 2 songs because they just didn't cut it, came to my epiphany and revised the project, and wrote and recorded "Returned To Earth". I'm still working on one last still untitled song to finish off the album. This is NOT a retro album or an old school or new school electro album or any other label you want to throw at it. This is a Newcleus album, and I seriously feel that it has the potential to be the BEST Newcleus album. If you must throw labels at it, it is exactly where I am right now in Electro-Funk, with influences from Hip-Hop, Break-beat and Jazz, with no pretenses, no commercialism and no compromises. I will stop rushing it, because I believe that rushing is what has slowed my progress the most, but I will be ever more diligent in finishing it. The goal I have set right now is to have it finished before the end of July, but to be frank, I haven't even started on the artwork yet, though I already have it totally laid out in my mind. I will continue to update the site on it's progress, and as anybody who has emailed knows, I will continue to answer each and every inquiry you may ask me by email or in the forum.
Now, here is what I'm going to do. First of all, starting right now, I am throwing a "Returned To Earth" Countdown Sale in the store. 20% off on everything in the store, from now until the album is released! 2nd, for those who ordered additional merchandise with their pre-orders, if you send me or the store an email requesting it I will send out your additional merchandise now, at no extra shipping or handling charges. If you were among the first 33 to order I will include your "Jam On It" CD Single as well. Finally, for anyone and everyone who requests it, I will either exchange what you paid for your pre-order for merchandise in the store, refund what you paid, or do any combination of the 2.
Once again, I am totally BLOWN AWAY by the support and patience that you guys have shown me! I have not received a single angry email or complaint, only a few sincere, polite inquiries about the album's progress. I can only hope that I would show the same amount of patience if the shoe was on the other foot. YOU GUYS ROCK!!! I cannot thank all of you who pre-ordered enough for your faith in us and our music. I do hope that you bear with me and see it through to the release, because I am 100% confident that you will find the album well worth the wait.
EZ,
Coz
