Hi Cozmo, great story there :)

It seems 'The Rise' occurred on the Monday that was my birthday. The planets or something must have been aligned to make that happen ;) haha

Great to hear you got a new computer as well and have all your release plans back in place. Have you received any renewed interest from Jam on It being sampled?

By the way, I just checked your new neighbourhood on the satellite view of Google maps. Looks like a nice area! There appear to be a lot of farms around there too, so I can imagine it must be a huge change from Brooklyn?

No, "Jam On It" is just plugging along as usual.  No noticeable renewed interest but then it gets plenty on it's own accord.  Now, if they would just release "Ya Heard" as a single... :wiggle:

Where we are is a nice change, maybe even a big change, but I wouldn't say huge.  However, I don't have to drive very far for it to be huge as hell! :)

Great news!!! Glad to see you are back in the swing of things and feeling better.  Sounds like you are going to have fun with that new equipment.   :-D

My father passed away last fall.  Since then I have been very busy at work and with the kids (both girls are into cheerleading).  Haven't heard much from PM Dawn, not holding my breath until they pop a cd.  Thought I'd check you out to see how you have been, looks like things are looking up!

HA!  Listening to Emosia right now...

So, do you plug the inputs into the 8pre, and then plug the 8pre into 8 different inputs of the 896? Or does the 8pre mix down to one input on the 896?  ProTools takes it from the 896 firewire, right?  It is amazing how much equipment you can get for less and less today... $1500 for the Motu units today - what would it have taken to get something comparable back in 1983?  Just 10 years ago folks were spending $30k on nice ProTools setups...

I listened to the Dreams in the Distance (Falling Away)... nice... I can't wait to hear the rest as it comes out!  It is great to see up up and at 'em.  :-D

My condolences, I'm really sorry to hear that.

I'm using all 8 inputs of both, and I then rout the 8pre's 8 inputs into the 896 via lightpipe.  They didn't have any of this stuff in '83 but in '92 when I first went digital it was Pro Tools or nothing.  I think my system cost me $7K for just 8 channels of Pro Tools.  Overall I spent $42K, 25K of it on the board.  I ended up selling that board for $700.

Thanks man, great to have you back! :urock:

Thanks, Coz.

$700 back on $25k - ouch!  I am sure you got great use out of it, though. :)

So, question: If Universal thought they had cleared things through Rhino, but then had to pay you, How much of what you got do you think came out of Rhino's pocket for selling rights to things they didn't own?  Do you feel you got a fair share for the use of your material?  Did you license material to Rhino in the past?  Is that how they ended up in all of this?

They had cleared it but they hadn't paid them yet.  It wouldn't have been a big thing anyway, Rhino just would have returned the money.  Majors usually cooperate with each other.  Yeah, I think they paid me quite fairly. :)  Rhino holds claim to the rights of the original "Jam On It", thus the confusion.

Good to see you're back on track. I have difficulties picturing you in Pennsylvania.
Somehow Cozmo D equals brooklyn.

Anyhow, Fabchannel.com is quitting per March 13. They are taking their entire archive offline.
Hence, your Amsterdam visit will go lost!  Wish I could somehow save it.
