Jam-On Joint / Bang the drums .. a little story...
« on: January 18, 2006, 02:18:28 AM »
So, me, the idiot, shipped my copy to the same addy as my cousins copy ,the other end of the country , luckily my dad went down there for a month at christmas and is just back.. he brought back my copy of bang the drums.. my aunty had been listening and asked me to get a copy for her when im down there next, she loves it.. dad usually takes no interest in music im grooving to but because my aunt (his lil sis) was going on about it he was interested and asked that after id given it a listen if he could borrow it for a drive in his car.. its a few days later now, dad just rang to say can he borrow it a day longer for a big trip he is going on on the weekend.. heres the best bit.. because of the trip he took his car to the Toyota garage ... he picked it up today and got his head blasted.. the Toyota dudes had been testing his car round the block pumping out bang the drums !!!!  :woohoo:  :6:

id love to give more insight but will reserve till ive had a chance to listen through the whole CD continuosly, but from memory its track 5,6 and 7 that grabbed me immediately.

« on: May 18, 2005, 07:34:23 AM »
My gran just phoned me (she is 91) she wants to have a website for a book she is releasing privately , she's paid to have it published and its more a labour of love than anything else, if she sells the projected amount she will get back 80% of her publishing costs,

I can put the website together and find some hosting at a good price.. but she asked whether the website will facilitate online purchasing, I said POSSIBLY if i can hook up paypal.. I know you guys got your (Coz & Orakle) got your paypal going smooth .. do you recommend it and is it easy to setup.. ??

Jam-On Joint / Album design project help
« on: April 27, 2005, 07:32:57 AM »
anybody here know much about 3d design ? ive seen some really cool stuff Coz made for albums and ive made some nice 2d stuff (Coz, the infinite dedication protos) but im coming up with ideas and lyrics for the first album i wanna make.. its called "Angel-Ape Fusions" (referring to us humans!!) and on the cover i wanna have a galaxy in the background, in the foreground on the left , an almost featureless face (angel) and on the right foreground an ape, maybe a gruff lookin gorilla face, heres the very hard part they overlap around the halfway point and theres the glowing outline/wireframe of a human face..

i dont know where to start .... what software or skill i need to acquire..
perhaps there is a slightly easier way to capture the concept..

Jam-On Joint / Whats this guy been smoking!!
« on: March 28, 2005, 05:32:25 AM »
found this on a rap messageboard! complimentary yes, true sadly not!
someone asked about rap songs with the best beats.... his reply below

****

here are some of the best ever..
Newcleus - Jam on it. (first rap song)
Newcleus - Where's the BEAT? (!)
Roni Size - Who told you?
Rahzel - If your mother only knew (AMAZING!)
Beastie Boys - Hold it now, Hit it!
Afrika Bambaata - Planet Rock
Man Parish - Boogie Down Bronx
Frankie Smith - Double Dutch Bus (not really rap, but funk-rap)
Kurtis Blow - Basketball
Grand Master Flash - New York, New York
Grand Master Flash - The Message.

Where is Newcleus now?...
--------------------------------
With their message of gallactic phatness dispersed, there was not a reason for them to be around for long. Entertaining the party scene/radio stations for seven years, they decided to call it quits. A few got married, and decided, since they were rich, they could live the rest of their lives in peace.
Co-lead Singer, Cozmo-D, had other plans though. He knew a few kids who could lay some pretty good rhymes, about things that were bugging them, so he go Sunnyview records to record them under the Newcleus label. They used the same fresh beats, and style that they did in the late 70s, and early 80s, but this wasn't what people wanted in 1992. They craved violent raps, with shady beats, like NWA. Or they wanted dancy, upbeat, MC Hammer type stuff. The NEW Newcleus project made enough money to break even on the records, and fees that they made with the project. And they broke up as well.
I still like the newer stuff, although it PALES in comparison to the original Newcleus.
Check out their 4 CD's. They all spread the same message, like butter to bread. =)

I'm not sure what happened to Chilly-B.. But I know that Cozmo-D now lives in a nice house in Brooklyn, NY... Where I believe he is a big time music producer.
I will follow this up soon... As I am Calling him on the phone, because I got his number, by talking to Sunnyview Records.
I'm also going to tape the convo, for Newcleus.org...

You should all check out Deltron 3030. They are like the New Newcleus. Same beat. Same message. Updated lyrics/sound.

Compare Newcleus vs. Deltron 3030. Deltron basically is a complete rip off. Newcleus were spacemen from the future, whose planet's computer laws, had banned dance and music, and expression. Deltron is the same thing. Maybe their from the same planet?

Newcleus Yup. They began it all... Only to be disrespected by people calling today's hip hop 'rap music'. Rap ended with Run-DMC. Then it became Hip-Hop. Please, don't call eastcoast/westcoast/southern hip-hop 'rap music'.. because it is not.
Anyone who can appreciate it, has quite a strong stomach in them. I mean, how could you not get nausiated by hearing "Everytime I come into this town, bling bling".. They make up words, to market their cd's. They can't make something catchy, that has a purpose, so they make something catchy, that sounds ridiculous.. Like, whooodeeewhooo, or Bling Bling, or saying things like 'its a one eight seven, with a cap in yo ass.'

Put me and NWA in a room together. I bet they'd all be too chicked-***** to pull a trigger on me. All talk. All pointless.
Hip-Hop = music for morons. Todays "RAP" like Roni Size, and Deltron 3030, is supreme in every way.

Newcleus was the first rap group that specifically performed in the rap style. There were a few before them... some country musician (not sure the name) in the mid-1960s actually had a rap style song, with the bass, etc. But, it was a joke. No, Newcleus was not a dance band They performed against other small groups like them, in the city streets of Brooklyn, from 1977-1980. They coined the phrase Hip Hop. It was a name for breakdancers, that would show up at the rap-battles.
As a matter of fact.. here is the first time the phrase was ever used... "... This beat, is for you poppers and breakers, hip-hoppers crazy like ziffle out from Green Acres....."
Ziffle (sp?) being the talking pig from Green Acres..
Whodini is more electro. As well as Cameo. I like both of their styles, but do not respect them as being rap since their songs were more funk-electro.
Newcleus were also the first to freestyle, solidifying the fact that I stated them to be the first rappers. Three years, after being the best band in Brooklyn, they had Saturday night battles, against people like Grandmaster Flash, The Sugar Hill Rappers (not gang yet).. Newcleus won all the battles. There are bootleg mp3's floating around the net with some of them.. They are actually pretty funny. As a matter of fact... one of the most recognized lines in rap history, was coined by Chilly-B of Newcleus, at a rap-battle.... referring to Superman "He can't satisfy you with his little worm, when I can bust you out with my super sperm".. He was rapping to some of Sugar Hill's groupies. And Sugar Hill used in their future rap battles/concerts (but not on their CD that I know of..), and got much attention for the foul (for then) lyrics. As a matter of fact, people went to some of their shows, only wanting to hear them sing the lyrics
It isn't common for rappers to sample each other, or use their lyrics, but Newcleus never did that, until around 1994 (which was the dumb, NEW newcleus, which weren't the same people as the first group)...

Anyway... In closing.. Newcleus invented rap, and everyone owes them a little respect, because without them, there would be no Nelly, no DMX, no Puff Daddy, no Limp Bizkit, no Sugar Hill, no Will Smith. It goes on and on. I'm sure someone would have discovered what they did, at one point or another, but hey... Newcleus did it first. Period.
